Quantum Connections Winter Schools 2025 and 2026

The Quantum Connections Winter School is the winter counterpart to the summer schools in Sweden, held in China each January. It gives students and young researchers an immersive experience across the fundamental and technological frontiers of quantum science, through lectures delivered by Nobel laureates and pioneering researchers from around the world. Participants explore the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, the landscape of quantum algorithms and communication, and the latest advances in experimentation and implementation.



1st Winter School (January 2025)


The inaugural Quantum Connections Winter School was held from 6 to 17 January 2025 at the Sanya Conifer Resort in China. Frank Wilczek was among the lecturers, alongside Michael Berry (University of Bristol), Allan MacDonald (UT Austin), Jian-Wei Pan (University of Science and Technology of China), Peter Zoller (Innsbruck), Antti Niemi (Nordita, Stockholm University), and others, spanning the fundamentals of quantum mechanics through to frontier experiments.


2nd Winter School (January 2026)


The second edition ran from 4 to 17 January 2026 in China, co-chaired by Frank Wilczek. The lecturer lineup included Markus Aspelmeyer (University of Vienna), Jörg Schmiedmayer (TU Wien), Steven Simon (University of Oxford), Igor Pikovski (Stevens Institute of Technology), Chaoyang Lu (University of Science and Technology of China), Hans Hansson (Stockholm University), and Nikolay Zheludev (University of Southampton), among others, continuing the school's mission to introduce young researchers to recent breakthroughs and inspire new directions.

Quantum Connections runs two complementary programs: summer schools in Sweden, held each June at Högberga Gård in Lidingö, and winter schools in China, held each January.
